Pai Plong, Ao Nang’s Hidden Beach

Recently, Leo and I took a trip to Ao Nang, Krabi in Thailand. This was my second time visiting this exotic destination, and our first trip abroad as a couple! I’ve been solo travelling for over 1 and a half years and it’s been a wonderful experience having someone so close to me, join on this unforgettable adventure.

Ao Nang is a small touristic town located in Krabi, Southern Thailand which is right on the footsteps of Andaman Sea. Perfect base to explore Krabi as well as a convenient midway point between all popular destinations in South Thailand.

Pai Plong / Hidden Beach

Krabi is breathtakingly beautiful! The whole area is covered with karst landscape that stretches from the land into the sea. It’s a unique natural beauty we must experience at least once. So get your bags packing, Thailand is unmissable!

Unfortunately, Ao Nang beaches are quite simple, but being long and wide means there’s enough space for everyone. It gets busy even during the off-peak season and for me personally, it’s just another tourist beach! So Leo and I were on a mission to find an alternative.

We made it one of our goals to discover Ao Nang off the beaten path and we came across this very special beach, Pai Plong beach – it was barely known.

The beach was peaceful, very clean and significantly more beautiful! There’s a resort just behind, but it’s small and quiet. Overall we shared an entire beach with less than 10 people.

However the highlight for us was the surrounding spectacular limestone landscape which was significantly more striking than from Ao Nang itself.

On a side note, it seemed as if Pai Plong beach could be a gorgeous sunset spot! However, we didn’t try, so let me know if you go.

How to Get There

On the far left side of the Ao Nang Beach, past the Beach Club Restaurant there’s a small river, just across you can find a staircase leading over the top of the karst hill. It’s a short 20 minute hike to the other side, this is where you’ll find this beautiful hidden beach. Beach location on GoogleMaps.

What to Bring

There’s only a single resort bar, aside from that, there are no means of buying water or food while on the Pai Plong beach. Bring lots of water and snacks with you!

You don’t have to worry about the footwear, path to the beach is fairly short and easy.

Of course, bring your swimwear and a camera to snap some gorgeous photos!

Beach bum!

We were very excited to discover this hidden gem, it’s not so well known so it’s significantly more quiet and peaceful. A beautiful bay decorated with stunning rock formations scattered right into the sea! true feel of Krabi!
